In this episode, I’m joined by blockchain expert/consultant Alex Preukschat to discuss what the near future holds in store for us. Blockchains promise to revolutionize our lives in a big way, simplifying many of our daily administrative chores and making things like wire transfers super cheap and fast. There are countless applications for blockchains, and they will probably change the internet as we know it.

If you’ve never heard of blockchains, you’ll probably have heard of Bitcoin or other cryptocurrencies, which are all based on blockchain technology. Blockchains are the backbone of any crypto token. If you have any interest in this space, this is definitely one episode you don’t want to miss. Even if you have never heard of these topics and don’t really have an interest, I still recommend you give this a listen, as whether you like it or not this will be a big topic in the near future, so it’s best to know more about it.

Topics Included:

  • Current and future applications of the blockchain
  • Initial Coin Offerings
  • Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies
  • Investing in cryptos

Hi James, Jean and Alex! A pleasure to see you both here.

I had no idea Alex had this passion, it’s a great news. And what to say about Jean, in WordCamps we spoke more about this topics and banks than about WordPress.

Last days a new info about 26 million robbery in ether appeared, I’m always fear about the security of this kind of currencies and let’s say it, money. Do we have to have fear about this news, or, as in “normal money”, can happen to anyone but it’s not common?

Have a nice day and see you!

Hi Ibon, good to know you are interested in this subject too ? Blockchain cryptocurrencies are high risk investment tools and the underlying technology drivers and the speculative activity are mostly two different things as you know …

See you in Belgrade or sooner. Alex

Loved the podcast! Question for Alex – why did you pick Spain specifically? Is it just because of the time you spent in Malaga, or is there some other reason?

I heard the section in the podcast around the 5 minute mark where you mentioned you wanted to make Spain into a blockchain hub, however didn’t quite understand the main reason beside the fact you already have a fair bit of talent there.

    Thanks!

Hi Josh, great questions. My background is Spanish/German and I grew up in both countries. At this moment Spain is not one of the leading countries in blockchain innovation, but I think we have the talent and capital to make it an important country if we get our act together and organize the community. Blockchchain can become the next big opportunity in a similar way to how the Internet has changed our lives. Having said all this I am doing in Spain because I am living here, but would do it anywhere else too. Blockchain is a nation agnostic technology and that also fits my personal world view in the same way that WordPress also belongs to the whole world. Thanks, Alex
